Skipper’s Diary Alimos: A Charter Week – Day 6

A Charter Week – Day 6
Sailing from Alimos to Poros – A Morning at Sea
The sixth day of our sailing from Alimos journey begins with a peaceful morning in Ermioni. The town slowly awakens as fishermen head out to sea and café owners prepare for the day. After breakfast onboard—fresh bread, local cheeses, and strong Greek coffee—we prepare for our 13-nautical-mile journey to Poros, one of the most picturesque islands in the Saronic Gulf.
With light winds at 9 knots, we enjoy a smooth and leisurely sail. Along the way, we pass small islets and admire the stunning coastline of the Peloponnese. Guests confidently take the helm under my guidance, mastering their sailing skills as we glide across the sparkling blue sea. The beauty of sailing from Alimos is the opportunity to explore these breathtaking waters at our own pace.

Arriving in Poros – The Final Island Escape
By early afternoon, we reach Poros Town, where the waterfront is bustling with activity. We moor near the Poros Clock Tower, a landmark offering panoramic views of the island. Unlike our first visit, this stop is about pure relaxation, enjoying our last full day of island hopping before returning to Alimos Marina.
Guests take time to explore the charming streets of Poros, visiting boutique shops and strolling along the scenic promenade. Some choose to rent bicycles or scooters to ride along the coastline, discovering hidden beaches and secluded coves perfect for one last swim.
Swimming and Sunbathing at Russian Bay
For our afternoon swim, we sail to Russian Bay, a sheltered cove known for its crystal-clear waters and historical ruins of an old Russian naval base. This secluded beach is ideal for snorkeling and paddleboarding. Guests relax on the soft sands, enjoying the peaceful setting and warm Mediterranean sun.
As we lounge in the bay, we reflect on the incredible experiences of the past week, savoring every remaining moment at sea. Sailing from Alimos has taken us to some of the most beautiful destinations in the Saronic Gulf, and today is no exception.
A Farewell Feast in Poros
As the sun sets, we dine at Poseidon Taverna, one of Poros’ most beloved restaurants, specializing in fresh seafood and traditional Greek cuisine. The evening meal includes grilled octopus, seafood pasta, and freshly caught red snapper, paired with a bottle of chilled Assyrtiko wine. The warm hospitality and stunning sea views make for a perfect final island dinner.
Back on the yacht, guests gather for one last night under the stars, sharing stories, laughter, and the magic of a week spent sailing through the Greek Islands.
Looking Ahead – The Final Leg of the Journey
Tomorrow, we set sail back to Alimos Marina, bringing our unforgettable yacht charter adventure to a close. The final sail offers time to reflect on the friendships made and the breathtaking destinations we’ve explored.
