Skipper’s Diary Alimos: A Charter Week – Day 4

Departing Hydra – A Morning at Sea in Skipper’s Diary Alimos

The fourth day of our Skipper’s Diary Alimos adventure begins as the sun rises over Hydra’s harbour. The gentle sounds of waves against the dock and distant church bells create a peaceful atmosphere. After a breakfast of fresh fruit and Greek pastries, we prepare the yacht for today’s 22-nautical-mile journey to Spetses.

The winds are light at 8 knots, allowing for a relaxed sail along the scenic coastline of the Peloponnese Peninsula. Along the way, we pass Dokos Island, an uninhabited island with an intriguing history—it is home to one of the oldest shipwrecks ever discovered. Guests take in the stunning views while enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the waves. The joy of sailing from Alimos to Spetses is not just about the destination but also about the journey itself.

Arriving in Spetses – A Highlight of Skipper’s Diary Alimos

By early afternoon, we reach Spetses Town, where elegant neoclassical mansions, horse-drawn carriages, and lively waterfront cafés create a unique and sophisticated atmosphere. Unlike other islands, Spetses has a strict ban on cars in its main town, adding to its charm. Walking through these historic streets truly enhances the Skipper’s Diary Alimos experience.

After mooring at Dapia Port, guests step ashore to explore. Some take a walk along the Palio Limani (Old Harbour), where wooden fishing boats and luxury yachts dock side by side. Others visit the Bouboulina Museum, dedicated to Laskarina Bouboulina, the famous female naval commander who played a key role in the Greek War of Independence. Sailing through the Saronic Gulf allows us to explore places steeped in history.

Swimming in Paradise – A Must in Skipper’s Diary Alimos

In the afternoon, we take the yacht around to Agia Paraskevi Beach, a stunning bay with emerald-green waters and golden sand. Guests dive into the refreshing sea, snorkel along the rocky edges, and relax under the shade of pine trees lining the shore. The peaceful setting makes it an ideal place to unwind before heading back to town for the evening. These tranquil swim stops are an essential part of our Skipper’s Diary Alimos adventure.

A Taste of Spetses – Fine Dining by the Sea

As the sun sets, we enjoy dinner at Orloff Restaurant, an upscale seaside taverna known for its exceptional seafood and breathtaking views. Tonight’s menu features grilled lobster, sea bass ceviche, and saffron-infused risotto, perfectly complemented by a crisp bottle of Malagousia wine. The evening atmosphere is enchanting, with soft lights reflecting off the water and the distant sound of music from Spetses’ lively bars.

Back on board, guests settle in under a star-filled sky, reflecting on another extraordinary day in our Skipper’s Diary Alimos journey.
