Skipper’s Diary Lefkada: A Charter Week – Day 6

Day 6: Sailing to Kalamos – A Hidden Gem (15nm)

Our Skipper’s Diary Lefkada adventure continues as we set sail from Kefalonia, heading east toward the tranquil island of Kalamos. With a 15-nautical-mile journey ahead, we enjoy the steady 10-knot northwesterly winds, making for a pleasant and relaxing sail. The guests take in the incredible Ionian scenery as we cruise past Atokos Island, reflecting on our past few days of adventure.

As we approach Kalamos, the island’s lush green forests and dramatic coastline come into view. Unlike some of the busier islands, Kalamos remains relatively untouched by mass tourism, making it an ideal stop for those seeking peace and natural beauty. We anchor in the charming Port Kalamos, a small fishing harbor where the locals welcome sailors with warm hospitality.

An Afternoon of Exploration

After securing the yacht, we set off to explore the island. A short hike leads us to Episkopi Beach, a secluded spot with golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Guests take the opportunity to snorkel, paddleboard, or simply relax on the shore, enjoying the quiet surroundings.

As the evening sets in, we head to George’s Taverna, a well-known local spot that serves some of the best grilled seafood in Ionian. Over a meal of fresh fish, traditional meze, and homemade wine, we reflect on our journey so far, savoring the moment before our final day at sea.

Tomorrow, we sail back toward Lefkada, marking the end of our unforgettable week-long adventure. Its always sad feeling when leaving Kalamos but, chin up, there is always next charter and next visit. Kalamos will be waiting with open arms.

Stay tuned for Day 7 as we return to Lefkada, concluding our incredible sailing journey!
